Martina Schymik

Martina (Marty) is a counselling intern at Peace Portal Counselling Centre, completing her MA in Counselling Psychology through Trinity Western University. Her practice is built on the belief that safety, honesty, and authenticity are the foundations of real change. Marty offers a compassionate presence where you can show up exactly as you are — without pressure, without judgment. Therapy with Marty is flexible and collaborative, always shaped by your needs, your goals, and your pace. Marty trusts the lived experience of her clients, and she honours the courage it takes to explore what’s often hidden, avoided, or overwhelming. Whether you come in with uncertainty, fear, anger, or hope, Marty seeks to meet you with kindness and clarity. Marty works with a wide variety of client populations. Here, you are free to set boundaries, say no, take risks, and bring forward the different parts of yourself that may have felt unsafe elsewhere. She integrates AEDP practices, somatic work, and experiential therapies to help you reconnect with your body and your emotions in a way that feels integrated and true. She values authenticity, nuance, and the unknown, and believes that healing unfolds when you are free to be fully human.
